Dear APA Colleagues,

With great enthusiasm, I encourage you to vote for Barton Blinder, MD PhD for President of the APA. I have known Bart for 20 years and have had the pleasure of working with him on several APA presentations through the Commission on Psychotherapy by Psychiatrists. We presented Courses and Symposia on Integrating Psychotherapy and Pharmacotherapy and co-edited a major text devoted to advancing and revitalizing that area of our psychiatric competence.

Bart’s contribution Psychodynamic Neurobiology: The Neurobiologic Bases of Mental Conflict and Psychotherapeutic Change was a bold creative attempt to move us forward in our understanding and research.

He is an excellent clinician, a seasoned neuroscientist, an experienced leader in local and national APA activities, and a wonderful friend. He has been deeply involved in many areas of APA functioning, tirelessly, and I mean tirelessly, working to promote the highest ideals of patient care, research, and teaching while also helping psychiatry establish a strong base in public and legislative acceptance.

His high energy, interpersonal warmth, political savvy, and deep love of our profession make him an ideal candidate for president. He will dedicate himself even more vigorously to reduce conflict both within and outside our ranks, promote all our ideals and strengthen us. The result will be a stronger APA and a stronger psychiatry.

Please visit his website at www.bartonblinder.com for more information on Bart’s priorities for our future.

Vote for Bart Blinder for APA President!
