Dear APA Colleagues,
I am writing to you to express my strong support for Barton Blinder, MD PhD DLFAPA for the Office of President-Elect of the APA.
I have personally known Bart Blinder for over 17 years as a faculty member at University of California, Irvine Department of Psychiatry, and as a colleague and mentor in the both the California Psychiatric Association and the Orange County Psychiatric Society. Dr. Blinder has been a member of the APA Assembly for over 20 years and has been serving as the Area 6 (California) Assembly Representative. He has extensive APA organizational experience at multiple levels, and has the background knowledge necessary to advance the science and practice of our profession. Dr. Blinder has been an outstanding role model for young psychiatrists, and has been a mentor for an entire generation of psychiatrists who have become actively involved in organized psychiatry. His diplomatic demeanor and consensus building are outstanding, and he is very skilled with respect to including various perspectives in his leadership style. His enthusiasm for active involvement of all psychiatrists within our organization, as well as his tireless efforts to defend our core principles, speaks well of his ability to represent our profession.
I encourage you to review his election material at www.bartonblinder.com.
Sincerely,
Kirk P. McNagny MD DFAPA
